School Sports and P.E.
With our own sports field, access to excellent local sports facilities, and a dedicated number of individuals on the school staff, our passion for sport is evident. Eaton Bray Academy offers many sports activities, not only during PE lessons but also during lunch clubs. Children in KS2 have the opportunity to also participate in inter-school tournaments. Recently children have participated in (and been very successful in) Hockey, Netball, and Tag Rugby tournaments as well as Cross Country events.

For those children that require them, swimming lessons at the local leisure centre are provided in order to ensure that children meet the National Curriculum requirements by the end of Key Stage Two. In December 2018, eighteen out of twenty-one children in Year 6 had achieved all Key Stage Two outcomes for swimming and water safety.
We are very proud of our Junior Sports Leaders who not only encourage the children during P.E. lessons and clubs but are great sporting ambassadors for the school.
Primary School P.E. and Sports Funding
The PE and Sport Allocation is funding provided to schools in addition to main school funding. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools. The government has provided additional funding since the academic year 2013-2014, to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding, provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, will be allocated to primary school headteachers.
Funding for schools will be calculated by reference to the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11), as recorded in the annual school’s census in January 2016
It is for schools to decide how the PE and Sport funding is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made to enhance the provision for PE in school. Schools are to be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding.
